Hi everyone! For those of you who might not know me, I’m Lara and I have been the SSAGO Treasurer for the past year. Before that, I was SAGGY’s Treasurer as well as Treasurer for a national event (I have so many items of clothing which say Treasurer Lara on them), plus I’ve also been involved in SSAGO projects. All of this experience has given me some amazing friends, the ability to use my spreadsheet powers for good, and the knowledge about club, regional, national, and event finances.

 

Why vote for me?

I’ve enjoyed my year on Team Pink and think that another year as Treasurer would allow me to complete some bigger projects. Continuity within the role is important, especially as we change our financial year and introduce new projects such as the Transport Project. There are a lot of moving parts within this particular role, and having arrived at a clear understanding of them all, I think there’s more I could do given another year that would provide future treasurers with a clearer basis on which to carry out the role and build their ideas.

 

Having been on Team Pink for a year already, I know the amount of work that goes into each role, and when certain deadlines are to be met by the treasurer. Event committees work incredibly hard to organise and run our national events, and I enjoy being a supporting hand, especially for the money side of things. Furthermore, with Witan and Reunion approaching on the horizon, I think having a Pink Treasurer who knows what they are doing and can build on a year's worth of experience is vital.

What will I do with another year?

• I want to develop guidance sheets for event treasurers and clubs/regions using our bank accounts to provide clear expectations and advice
• Having recently gained access to Money Bunny’s instagram account, I want to start actually posting on her socials to encourage everyone to engage with the finance (fun) side of life :) 
• Work with the archive project to record events past and present in order to build up a wealth of helpful information and advice (plus find out when SAGGY’s neckers changed colour!)

 

SSAGO has given me so much joy, and I’ve met some wonderful people whom I would love to continue meeting, helping, and advising as Team Pink Treasurer, and I look forward to being Money Bunny’s keeper for another year!
